Crown Lodge Hotel

The location was easy to find/get to, and fine for the particular purpose of our visit. The room (executive, motel type as hotel, itself, appears to have limited availability) was warm, pleasant and comfortable. The breakfast was well varied and really nice. We ate one evening meal which was excellent and the drinks prices quite good, for a hotel. We used the gym which had everything that we wanted to use, and was clean and airy. The staff were really friendly and helpful - same people, pretty much, as on a previous visit, and it is evident that it is more than "just a job" to all of them . . . cleaning staff, included.

The staff were superb, the food was incredible. A little pricy, but it was quality. The afternoon tea is a real treat and as good as I've ever had including the Ritz. I believe they have a dedicated pastry chef, and it shows. Served between 3 and 4 on Saturday, they should maybe extend this, and booking is required.

It was actually a great little lodge - very homely. The staff were absolutely wonderful and could not do any more than they were doing to ensure that I was looked after. I arrived a little late and missed lunch, but a lovely sandwich was made for me - complete surprise. You usually get the same old 'nah, sorry you missed it'. Bar staff and food servers were fab - very attentive and great fun. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was a treat. Having stayed in a great many hotels around the world over the last 30 years, it's nice to be pleasantly surprised and have expectations exceeded. If I'm ever that way again, I'll be looking to check in.

The welcome we received on arrival was spot on, with clear instructions on how to find our room which was in the executive building. Hints on parking our car were welcome, but not needed. There is lots of free parking here. I was really happy with our room, it was spotlessly clean and everything was as it should be. There was enough wardrobe space for our short stay, an extra large very comfy bed, lovely fluffy bathroom towels and rather nice shower/shampoo products. The WiFi was easily accessed and reliable. It was also extremely quiet. No road noise, no barking dogs, no roaring vehicles, nothing. We dined at the hotel during our stay and the choice of food on offer would suit most tastes. Also, the restaurant staff were really knowledgeable about the menu and their service was very good. Breakfast this morning provided so many choices I wish I’d photographed the menu. The breakfast team also provided the great service I had already come to expect after such a short stay. Your colleague made our checkout smooth and easy. When I told them I planned on visiting Ely, they gave me some really interesting tips.

Clean & comfortable rooms in a lovely quiet location. Very secure and private. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Nothing was too much trouble. Clare and her team went out of their way to make sure that our stay was perfect. The chefs supplied a personal menu for dinner & breakfast that worked around my food intolerances. They never once made it feel uncomfortable or an issue. The lodge is dog friendly and they even supplied bowls and beds for our 2 dogs.
